About Us

Missoula Brazilian Jiu Jitsu was established in 2014 by Professor Bradley Lehuta to fill a void in the local martial arts community. After years of commuting long distances to find high-level instruction while studying engineering, Bradley realized that Missoula needed a dedicated space where the art of grappling was taught as a science, not just a sport.

The Culture: Discipline, Not Ego

What sets our studio apart is a culture of "Accountability as Care." We’ve traded the typical "fight gym" atmosphere for a professional, academic environment. At MSLA BJJ, we welcome men, women, and children of all fitness levels. Our culture is one of mutual respect—where senior students assist beginners and everyone is held to a standard of technical excellence.

Bradley Lehuta

The Foundation:

A Hellgate High School wrestling alum and U.S. Navy Veteran, Professor Bradley Lehuta has spent a lifetime mastering the art of the mat. After serving eight years as a Cryptologic Technician Maintenance (CTM) Petty Officer, Bradley returned home to Missoula to bridge the gap between military discipline and technical martial arts.

The Philosophy:

While studying Computer Engineering at SKC, Bradley approached Jiu Jitsu like a complex system. He founded Missoula BJJ in 2014 to move away from "random" training and toward a systematic, logic-based curriculum. He believes that with the right "playbook," anyone can master the science of leverage and control.

The Commitment:

Today, Bradley uses his background in engineering and naval service to provide the most organized martial arts instruction in Montana. His goal is simple: to help you build a foundation of technical skill and personal resilience that lasts a lifetime.
